Ruby & Reuben

My sister, Ruby got married to the love of her life so it goes without saying that I did flowers for her. To make things simpler, I took on the solemnisation ceremony flowers as well as the personal flowers and left the banquet flowers to another florist.

There was a special request to use alliums (the purple round ball flower) for her bouquet so I ordered some to be flown in from Holland as there weren’t any available at the flower market at that time. To keep things simple for the groom’s boutonniere, I used a single stem of allium with a ribbon.

When it was time to set up at the lawn, the sky was turning grey and it started drizzling. My heart sank. Thankfully the rain came and left and by the time the ceremony started, the grass wasn’t soggy wet, the wind was nice and cooling. It was perfect.

For the family boutonnieres, I used a single stem of tulip. It was a risk, but definitely worth it.
